Vintage Hand Made Seed Bead Brooch 1940's
The hand made seed bead brooches produced during the late 1930's and early 1940's bring a nostalgic look back in time. During that period there was very much a cottage industry with brooches being produced in the home whilst factory production ceased to concentrate on producing products for the war effort. There was also a cottage industry happening in internment camps as a way of distracting ones self from the boredom of being there.
This really sweet brooch is beautifully made with tiny seed beads and shell beads hand sewn with wire on to a metal back. There is a trombone catch, so called for its trombone like pull in and out mechanism. The trombone clasp was used during the 1930's & 1940's in Europe. I suspect the origin of this brooch is either from France or the UK. It is in very good condition and has been well looked after.
