Benedikt New York Designer 1960's Brooch
New York based jeweller Howard Benedikt made costume jewellery marked Benedikt in a short period from 1955 until 1963. He was located at 389 5th Avenue and his company produced high quality costume jewellery. His work was thought to be very similar to that of Hattie Carnegie. The Maltese Cross was an iconic design that he used. The high standard of production and his innovative designs made the Benedikt costume jewellery highly sought after. This is a large gold tone brooch with eight textured gold tone sections centred with a large sapphire blue rhinestone fully faceted and prong set. The central stone measures 2cms across and width across of the whole brooch is 7cms. There is a firm roll over safety clasp to the back along with Benedikt NY signature..
