1940's Sterling Vintage Brooch
1940's sterling brooches emerged due to World War 11 metal rationing leading to designers using sterling silver with a vermeil (thin layer of gold) over the sterling. This led to large bold sculptural retro pieces. Recently arrived from USA, this is a gorgeous 1940's authentic example with a floral spray combing small clear rhinestones, and prong set deep sapphire blue rhinestones, set in sterling and marked sterling to the back. There is a firm roll over safety clasp. Overall dimension is large at length 10.5cms and 8.5cms across width at widest point. Condition is very good considering its 80 years with a little wear commensurate with age. Nothing that detracts from this authentic nostalgic piece. Gift boxed by Vintageonline.
