Weiss New York
Weiss Vintage Rhinestone 60's Brooch
A gorgeous vintage rhinestone brooch signed WEISS with a copyright symbol, a name synonymous with old world quality. Albert Weiss began his jewellery design career with the American company Coro in the 1930's. He began his own company based in New York in 1942. The copyright symbol was added to his signature in 1955, so that dates the brooch after 1955 and likely somewhere from then until the 1960's. Albert Weiss handed over his business to his son in 1969, who did not make a success of it and the company closed doors in 1971.
This is a perfect quality example of 60's style. Overall dimension is 5cms across. A lovely combination of a circle of channel set rhinestones embellished with fully faceted round and tear drop shaped stones, each prong set. All set in silver tone metal with a firm roll over clasp to the back. In very good condition, gift boxed by Vintageonline.
