Vintage Snake Brooch
What looks to be acanthus leaves in veined gold tone metal with the figure of a snake intertwined with a green gemstone in his mouth. Overall dimension is 4.5cms x 5cms, in very good condition with a firm roll over safety clasp to the back. The snake has been a symbol used in the manufacture of jewellery since Roman times meaning different things to different civilisations through to Queen Victoria's time and beyond. Prince Albert gave Queen Victoria a snake ring to symbolise his everlasting love. This is a vintage piece likely to have been from the 1970's.
