Sphinx 1950's Rhinestone Brooch
Sphinx Jewellery was a UK company which began in the late 1940's owned by S. Root. Based in Chiswick, London, it operated until the 1990's. It is however the wonderful exquisite rhinestone brooches of the 1950's period and into the 1960's, that are highly collectable today. The company had a reputation for quality rhinestones and settings, and also produced jewellery for some of the major costume jewellery companies of the day. This is a stunning example with a tear drop shape of green, red and blue rhinestones embellished with channel set rhinestone leaf shapes. Overall dimension is 6.5cms x 4.5cms set in to gold tone metal with Sphinx signature to the back along with a firm roll over safety clasp. In perfect condition, gift boxed by Vintageonline.
