Silver tone & Rhinestone Vintage Leaf Necklace and Matching Earrings-West Germany
A lovely necklace and earring set from an Australian estate sale in an "Edments" box. The box is royal blue velveteen, but I have no way of knowing if it is the original box from purchase. Edments Jewellers was an Australian jewellery company that merged with Prouds in 1951. That merged company became known as Prouds, so the velvet box is pre 1951. Eventually Prouds became Angus Coote, a well known Australian retailer of jewellery. The original Edments company opened stores in a number of Australian cities during the early 1930's and grew to include 23 stores. So here we have a 1950's set in as new condition....perhaps it was always kept in the box. The design is quite beautiful with sculptured silver tone leaves enhanced either side with a clear rhinestone. Width of the leaves is 2.5cms and length end to end is 33cms (typical of the time, sizes were on the small side), so I will enclose a 7cms extension chain in silver tone metal in case it is needed. The matching earrings are clip on mechanism, firm and comfortable. "West Germany" is marked to the hook clasp. The set will come in the original blue velvet box, which is also in good condition, with a slight imprint of a pair of nail scissors on the top, which you can see on close inspection.
