Reverse Carved Vintage Brooch & Earrings
What is not to love about carved lucite jewellery from mid 1900's.? Lucite is a trade name for acrylic thermoplastic, and when it was developed in the 1930's it eventually became a fabulous material for the production of jewellery due to its ease to work with. During the 1940's and 1950's reverse carved jewellery was produced in both factories, and at home, where a lucrative cottage industry developed. This is a gorgeous set with vibrant red roses and leaves hand painted in to the carving, and the colours from the flowers reflect in to the edge of the brooch and earrings. Size of the brooch is 5.5cms x 4cms. Condition is excellent. The matching earrings are screw on mechanism, so popular in the 1950's. They can be comfortably fitted. Lovely set to wear together or alone. Gift boxed by Vintageonline.
