Mother of Pearl Heart with Cherub Brooch

A truly beautiful mother of pearl heart shaped brooch with a cherub surrounded by floral tendrils in gold tone metal. The surrounding mother of pearl is also carved with flowers. Overall  dimension is 4cms x 4cms. There is a firm C clasp to the back. In excellent vintage condition. Gift boxed by Vintageonline.

During the Renaissance, between 14th and 16th century cherubs were often featured in beautiful works of art, and the cherub has been popular in jewellery throughout history since, particularly during the Georgian and Victorian periods.  This cherub is probably from the 1930's - 1950's period.
