Lady Portrait Brooch
During the 18th, & 19th century , if you had enough money, it was very popular to have an artist paint your portrait in miniature. Costume jewellery more popular during the 20th century often took a look back in time for inspiration. So a good alternative was transfer printing on to either resin or ceramic discs which could be framed for brooches. The outfit on this lovely lady reminds me of the 19th century french peasant girls. Very likely this one would have been produced during the 1940's or 1950's/ The transfer print rests on a ceramic disc. The disc has a number to the back which would denote the china factory it originated from. There is also a firm roll in pin fastening. In good pre loved condition, and gift boxed by Vintageonline.
