Joan Rivers 1990's Vintage Maltese Cross Brooch

After a long career as a comedian,  in the early 1990's Joan Rivers who was always known for her elaborate jewellery went in to the cosmetic jewellery business. Joan personally designed the pieces for the Joan Rivers Classic Collection and it was from the Classic Collection that a range of Maltese Cross Shaped brooches were produced. Despite her death the brand remains an enormous success and the vintage pieces are now highly collectable.

Here we have a classic example of her elaborate designs with a combination of high quality faux jade gemstones and sparkling rhinestones with central pearl.  The highly stylized Maltese Cross was a recurring motif in the Joan Rivers Classics Collection. The large smooth rounded green stones made of lucite are intended to mimic jade or poured glass.

Measurement of the brooch is 6cms x 6cms, a very solid quality brooch set in gold tone metal with a firm roll over safety clasp to the back along with Joan Rivers signature.  In perfect as new condition, gift boxed by Vintageonline.
