French Porcelain Mid Century Brooch, Limoges

The magnificent cobalt blue glaze of the French Limoges Company on porcelain with metallic gold gilt transfer depicting 18th century style romantic courting couple with a gold tone filigree mounting.  A really beautiful brooch measuring 7cms x 7cms.  Signed Limoges front and back.  It is in excellent condition with no obvious wear at all.   Some light reflection shown in the photos. These fabulous brooches were often brought back from Europe as souvenirs and gifts. Nothing says French more clearly than Limoges, - a name that can be traced back to the legendary porcelain making traditions established in Limoges, France in the late 18th century. While this design mimics the romantic style of 18th century French Rococo court life, pieces like this were produced as mid century costume jewellery revivals, and are highly collectable today.  Gift boxed by Vintageonline.
