Czech Glass Egyptian Revival Vintage Bead Necklace
A recent arrival after finding this beautiful Czech glass bead necklace at the Covent Garden Market in the UK. Czech glass bead making history is deeply intertwined with the Egyptian Revival trend which peaked in the 1920's & 1930's after the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb. This led to a surge in production of beads and jewellery with Egyptian motifs by glass artisans in regions like Jablonec in Bohemia. I have had the pleasure of visiting the jewellery museum there and there are some wonderful items. This is a long necklace which pops over the head, perfect for the current trend of layering., or worn alone as a statement piece. The colours are strong and beautiful with tiny green glass beads separating the orange beads. Total length of the necklace is 78cms with a drop of 39cms. The beads are all in very good condition, gift boxed by Vintageonline.
