Silver Memorial Brooch Chester 1923

$95.00 AUD
Photography was invented during the Victorian era and photograph jewellery continued to be popular well in to the next century. It was looked upon as a token of love and remembrance. This is a wonderful romantic piece of nostalgia with the photograph of a young woman set in silver frame which is hallmarked for Edward Durban & Co Chester 1923.  Edward Durban & Co were silversmiths in Birmingham, but the mark indicates registration in Chester. The photograph sits under celluloid and could be exchanged for another photograph. The back has an interesting clip mechanism similar to the back of an upright frame or paint easel. There is a firm C clasp to the back. Measurement across is 3.5cms. In very good pre loved condition, and gift boxed by Vintageonline.
