Mid Century Bead Necklace Germany
These interesting beads are made from lucite which became very popular during the late 1940's in the manufacture of costume jewellery. The smaller clear beads interspersed through the necklace have an aurora borealis finish which was not produced until the early 1950's, which brings an interesting combination to the necklace. There is a well working gold tone push in clasp in the shape of a rose centred with a bead similar to the main beads. So it would have been the original clasp, however it is marked "Germany". Germany as a signature was used only until 1949 when the country was split in two. So I suspect that the necklace was made in the early 1950's, but a clasp from the 1940's was utilized. The necklace is 57cms from end to end, so will fit all necks. Being lucite it is light and easy to wear. It is in excellent condition, gift boxed by Vintageonline.
