Alice Caviness New York

Alice Caviness New York Rare 1940's Brooch Clip and Matching Earrings

$145.00 AUD

Alice Caviness was a former fashion model and launched her costume jewellery business in 1943 in New York. The jewellery was distinctive and bold made from high quality materials and techniques.  Eventually it was sold across America in high end boutiques and Caviness exclusive boutiques were also opened in major cities. Alice Caviness was active in the business until her retirement to Florida in the early 1980's and the business closed in 1987.  The jewellery from the early period of the 1940's-1950's is highly sought after by collectors today. The Alice Caviness originals were produced in much smaller numbers than some of the big companies of the time like Coro and Trifari.

The beaded clusters in this set are a beautiful coral colour enhanced with gold. The brooch is made to double as a fur clip, so as a brooch it is suitable to move sideways on a lapel, or centrally in a decolletage. The matching clip on earrings have an intricately patterned back similar to the designs of Miriam Haskell who was also producing high end jewellery at the same time.  Dimensions - the brooch measures 7cms x 4cms, and the earrings measure 4cms across.  The condition is excellent especially considering the age. Someone has looked after the set very well.  True vintage at its best.  Gift boxed by Vintageonline.
