Antique Banded Agate Brooch

A fairly large brooch at 6cms x 4cms, set in silver tone metal with a firm C shaped clasp to the back. A smooth tactile finish to this natural slice of agate.  It is a stone that has been used for jewellery and useful implements as far back as the Stone Age. During Victorian times, Scottish agate became popular when Queen Victoria began collecting Scottish Agate. Popularity continued, and I suspect this one is from the late 19th, early 20th century.  It is in very good condition. Hard to pinpoint a date exactly. In good condition, gift boxed by Vintageonline.
