Irish Tara Ware Vintage Enamelled Bracelet
The world famous sacred manuscript known as "The Book of Kells is the main inspiration for the jewellery designs of the Irish Jewellery Company Tara Ware Ltd. The old Irish manuscript is the most valuable piece of medieval art. The Monks did their best to fulfil the murals decorating each page with illustrations and ornaments. Written in vibrant colours the book contains 340 pages. Enamel jewellery is the art for which the ancient Irish were famous. Mimicing the designs in the book vibrant multicolour Guilloche enamel is used along with bronze, copper gilding producing Celtic designs. The company produced Tara Ware Enamelled Jewellery in Dublin from 1935 to the late 1980's. Here we have an authentic bracelet with six round discs enamelled on to brass tone metal. Each disc measures 2cms across, and length of the bracelet end to end is 17cms. In very good pre loved condition, with the enamelling still vibrant. Gift boxed by Vintageonline.
