Egyptian Revival Scarab Vintage Brooch

$55.00 AUD

The early Egyptians honoured the scarab beetle for immortality, transformation, protection and in the ensuing years it became popular to use it in good luck charms, particularly in green which was a symbol for growth. During the 1960's there was a strong revival in Egyptian style jewellery, possibly brought about by the making of the film Cleopatra with Elizabeth Taylor. This brooch is from that period. There is an Egyptian head, possibly Nefertiti with a green scarab beetle either side set in to a silver tone mesh background. There is a roll in pin to the back. Overall dimension is 5cms across. In good condition, and gift boxed by Vintageonline.
