Arcansas Brooch by Elizabeth Reimer Australia

The Australian Costume Jewellery Company Arcansas was founded in Sydney in the early 1950's by Hungarian Migrant Elizabeth Reimer. It was a very successful business originally run from her home before moving to factory premises.  She used innovative designs, some looking back to antiquity and some more modern as this one which has the symbols of the theatre - the faces of tragedy and comedy. The company progressed to sell overseas, and was eventually closed when Elizabeth retired in the 1970's. Her pieces are highly collectable today. Measurement is 3cms x 2cms x 3cms along the 6 sides. A lovely example  in excellent condition. Marks to the front of the piece in the photographs are simply light reflection. There are a couple of small wear marks to the back, along with the firm roll over safety clasp and the ARCANSAS signature plate.  Gift boxed by Vintageonline.
