Antique Whitby Jet Necklace

Beautiful antique Whitby Jet necklace featuring 26 chunky graduating carved beads each separated with a round jet spacer bead. Length end to end is 52cms, fitting most necks. Carved beads became popular during the late 1880's and their popularity has not waned to the current day. They have an unmistakeable charm. The condition is very good -  It originally became popular earlier in the last century after the death of Prince Alfred and black mourning jewellery became popular.
