Sphinx Vintage Ruby Rhinestone 1950's Brooch

Sphinx Jewellery was a UK company which began in the late 1940's and owned by S. Root. Based in Chiswick, London it operated until the 1990's.  It is however the wonderful rhinestone brooches that were produced during the 1950's and into the 1960's that are highly collectable today. The company had a reputation for quality rhinestones and settings and also produced jewellery for some of the major costume jewellery companies of the day. This is a stunning example with a central ruby coloured cabochon surrounded by red, blue and clear rhinestones and tear drop shaped aurora borealis stones. Overall dimension is a substantial 6cms x 5cms set in gold tone metal with Sphinx signature and firm roll over safety clasp to the back. Gift boxed by Vintageonline.
