Vintage Clear Lucite Acrylic 1940's Rhinestone Brooch

$85.00 AUD

Lucite acrylic was invented by the American Dupont Corporation in 1931, and it went on to become a unique and popular material to use for costume jewellery during the 1940's and 1950's. It became very popular in the post World War 11 era due to its hard, water resistant lightweight properties. It was crystal clear with 93% transparency rate and much stronger than previous plastics.

This stylish brooch is from that time in an art deco shape with dark emerald green coloured rhinestones. Overall dimension is 7.5cms width, and 4.5cms wide at the widest point. There is a firm roll over safety clasp to the back which can be seen through the lucite. The pin does not show when worn. In very good condition for its age, and gift boxed by Vintageonline.
