Vintage Shell Cameo Brooch
Italy has long been the epicentre of cameo production and still retain a classical approach to the cameo creations. It was during the 19th Century that the carving of cameos in to shell became popular. The majority of cameo heads face to the right, so this is more unusual with a beautiful left facing lady head. A very feminine style with flowers in her hair and in her corsage. She is carved in to shell, and framed in a rolled gold frame. (Marked RG for rolled gold. There is a firm C shaped clasp to the back. Overall dimension is 4.5cms x 3.5cms. A short rolled gold safety chain is attached. In very good vintage condition, and gift boxed by Vintageonline.
