Galalith Carved Bead Vintage Necklace
Galalith is an early plastic made from milk - a casein plastic, first introduced at the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1900. It is often confused with bakelite. These beads have a charming vintage look and feel. The necklace is quite long at 80cms end to end. (approx. 90 beads in total. The beads graduate in size from the largest at the front which measure 2.5cms round., to the small ones at the back finished with a silver tone lobster clasp. The lobster clasp made its appearance in the 1970's so it is clear that the vintage beads have been re strung after that time. Charming vintage beads in very good condition, gift boxed by Vintageonline.
