Victorian Gold Filled Love Token Brooch
During the 1800's sentimental jewellery was very popular, following on from the untimely death of Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, and as so often happens jewellery styles follow the happenings of the day. These gorgeous bar brooches were typically love tokens given to a dear friend or romantic interest. This one is so sweet, not large at 3.5cms x 2cms. There is a heart with central ruby stone flanked by filigree, and a tiny dropped heart. It is in very good condition considering its 100 plus years age. There is the typical C clasp and tube hinge to the back. To be cherished. Gift boxed by Vintageonline.
