Toile de Jouy Romantic Heart Brooch

The pattern on this ceramic heart shaped brooch is reminiscent of the Toile de jouy fabric originally produced in France, near Paris for the first time in the 1760's. The word Toile simply means cloth.  The scene is romantic with obvious vision of a fair maiden being courted all decked out in French 1700's dress.  It is a fairly contemporary brooch with a very old theme.

Dimension of the ceramic heart with its transfer print is 4cms x 4cms.It is in excellent condition and perfect as a love token for Valentines Day.
