Russian Vintage Finift Enamel Necklace & Earrings
A beautiful set from the town of Rostov in Russia renowned for the production of Finift Enamel jewellery. The special process for the production of these hand painted enamel pieces has been carried out in Rostov since the 18th century. The silver filigree is an alloy known as "German Silver" which has high anti corrosion properties. The enamel part is painted in a technique called "hot enamel", hand painted and sealed in high temperature which produces vibrant colours that always remain bright and fresh. The necklace has a large central disc measuring 2cms x 1.5cms in filigree frame with two smaller hand painted discs set in filigree either side. The central flower is pink. The chain measures 43cms end to end finished with a firm paper clip clasp. The matching drop earrings are for pierced ears with the disc measuring 1/5cm x 2cms The central flower is blue.. In superb condition. There was huge commercial interest in these enamelled pieces post World War 11, and production of this lovely set is likely to be post 1960's period.
