Napier USA 1980's Graphic Choker Necklace
The Napier Company began as far back as 1878 in Massachusetts USA under the name E.A. BLISS C0 mainly manufacturing gild mens watch chains. The company grew rapidly after moving to Connecticut in 1890 and during both world wars ceased production of jewellery in favour of war related items such as medallions and medals. James Napier became president of the company in 1920 and the company was renamed. to the Napier Co. in 1922. Throughout the ensuing years the company became a leader in the field of fine costume jewellery production, often sending designers to Europe for ideas. Throughout each decade whilst the high quality remained, the designs reflected the popular style of the time. In 1999 the company was bought by Victoria & Company but the plant in Meriden, Connecticut was closed later that year.
