Mid Century Vintage Blue Rhinestone Brooch
A stunning combination of satin glass stones, prong set navettes and blue aurora borealis stones spreading from a large aurora borealis blue stone reflecting colours of the rainbow in the light. There is a swedge construction to the brooch which was used by a number of the American jewellery companies during the 1960's. Swedge is the name given to the formation shown on the back of the brooch, small pre stamped and cut pieces of metal each attached with rivets. offering a strong and intricate base to hold the precious stones. There is no signature to the brooch. It may very well have been part of a set from one of the well known costume jewellery companies of the time. Often the company signature was only applied to the earrings. A lovely piece measuring 5.5cms across with a firm roll over safety catch. Gift boxed by Vintageonline.
