Marcasite Vintage 60's Brooch

A beautiful marcasite brooch from the popular period of the 1960's. All marcasites are shiny and bright with a silver tone backing and firm roll over safety clasp.  Marcasite which is actually cut and polished pieces of pyrite a gemstone often referred to as fools gold, has been popular since the time of the ancient Greeks. There was quite a resurgence during Queen Victoria's time, and then again during the 1960's. It has never really gone out of favour and a lot of the more modern pieces are produced in Thailand. This is a lovely vintage piece, in very good condition, and gift boxed by Vintageonline. Dimension is 4cms x 4cms.
