Gold Filled Scrimshaw Look Brooch
Scrimshaw was the art of sketching scenes and on to bone and ivory in times past. This is a modern day take on that. It is a small brooch measuring only 2.5cms across. Whilst it looks like ivory, it is in fact a modern day lucite and interestingly the frame is marked for 12K filled gold. The sketch shows an old style ship and a lighthouse. Likely to have been a souveneir piece, but not a lot of age to it. It is in perfect as new condition. Gift boxed by Vintageonline.
