French Vintage Hand painted Brooch
During the 1930's and 1940's floral brooches were extremely popular and manufactured in a number of different European areas including France which was extremely prolific led by the factories in Limoge who embellishede their porcelain. This encouraged a rise up of cottage industries and although this has a french signature of G.Mouries it is unknown whether they were an individual artist or whether they worked for one of the larger factories. There is no factory signature. The trombone clasp was patented in 1850 and was used for a hundred years, so it is likely that the brooch was produced during the art deco period. There is a round glazed finish ceramic disc embellished with blossom flowers, and surrounded by a scrolled gold tone frame. The petals are enhanced with raised china painting. A lovely true vintage piece, in excellent condition considering its age. The overall dimension is a little over 5cms across Gift boxed by Vintageonline.
