Egyptian God Ra Figure Brooch Pendant
Ancient Egyptian culture was centred around the pantheon of Gods who they worshipped. The most important of these gods was Ra, the main God who was a symbol of good and truth. His hawk head represented the suns flight across the horizon.
I have no provenance for this brooch but it was purchased from the estate of a lady well travelled, and I suspect it would have been purchased at perhaps an Egyptian exhibition, or from somewhere she visited in Egypt.
It appears to have been hand hammered using a gold like metal. At the back there is not only a firm roll over clasp but a strong hook which can be utilized for hanging as a pendant on a chain. It measures 7cms x 4.5xcms, in very good condition, and gift boxed by Vintageonline.
