Early Celluloid Vintage Acorn Pin Brooch 1940's
Celluloid was actually first patented in 1869 but it was not until the early part of the 20th century that it was safe enough to use and became popular for costume jewellery. The acorns in this brooch are actually original and dried and lacquered. The rest is celluloid apart from the two bell like balls attached to the celluloid chain. It had been hand coloured to emulate autumn tonings. In excellent condition considering its age with a firm C clasp to the back. Each of the leaves measures 3cms x 2cms. The drop from branch to the tip of the middle leaf is almost 7cms. A lovely authentic vintage piece and gift boxed by Vintageonline.
