Czech Vintage Earrings Egyptian Style
Czechoslovakia was an important centre for the production of costume jewellery between the two major wars in the 20th century, in particular the area of Gablonz near Prague. During the war jewellery producing factories were seized and taken over for the production of weapons and many of the wonderful jewellery makers were sent to concentration camps. After the war and since that time large stock piles of jewellery fairings have been found and the jewellery making re established although on a much smaller scale. These wonderful earrings have been put together in more recent times using the vintage components and re made as they were during the 1920's and 1930's. This gorgeous pair of earrings has an Egyptian theme with a rectangular filigreed section holding a brasstone sphinx head from which there are three amethyst glass drops Overall length end to end is a substantial 8cms. Width across the brasstone fairing is 3.5cms. The brasstone fairing has a little soldering wear to the back which does not detract at all. They are for pierced ears and are in good condition. Beautiful, and gift boxed by Vintageonline.
