Red Carved Cinnabar Vintage Bangles
A set of two cinnabar bangles. The authentic cinnabar mineral was used as a dye and over the years within China it was used to colour authentic lacquerware. Red has always been a prominent and popular colour for good luck especially in China. The production of antique lacquerware was a long process and eventually other more modern ways were found to produce the colour and the carving of decorative and jewellery pieces from wood and resin became popular. This lovely pair of carved bangles are in perfect condition. The wider one does have a black mark imprinted in to the inside surface of the bangle which can not be seen when worn. The wider bangle is 2cm width of the carving, and 7cm opening across, so will fit most wrists. The narrower one is 1cm across with an opening of just under 7cm. Vibrant cinnabar red and a deco look.
