60's Victorian Revival Cameo Brooch
Cameos have been part of adornment for hundreds of years particularly after the discovery of Pompei in 1748. From time to time there will be a revival, and there was in particular a strong revival in the 1960's when resin was able to be used to emulate the shell carvings and make cameos affordable for everyone. This is a lovely quality example from that time...solidly made, a beautiful lady head carving set in gold tone filigree frame. Overall dimension is 5cms x 4cms. It is in excellent condition with gold tone back and firm roll over safety clasp. Gift boxed by Vintageonline.
