1950's Yellow Lucite Necklace
It was during the 1940's & 1950's that lucite became a popular material to use in the production of costume jewellery. It was much easier to use than the galalith and bakelite of the previous years, and could be colored and molded into shape easily. This authentic vintage necklace from the 50's has vibrant yellow lucite in a freeform shape with deco lines, set in to gold tone metal. Each of the six sections measures 2.5cms x 1.5cms. Trifari was the first company to embrace the use of lucite in their jewellery, however this is unsigned and possibly from one of the smaller manufacturers of the time. Both the lucite and gold tone metal is in excellent condition. Total length end to end is 36cms. There is a shepherd hook clasp. Gift boxed by Vintage Online.
