1940's Vintage Celluloid Bird Brooch
Although celluloid was invented as the first plastic way back in the 1800's it was prior to and during WW11 that it became very popular as a medium for the production of jewellery. The lovely 1940's celluloid brooches are highly collectible. This sweet bird that has flown over from USA is quite substantial in size at 7.5cms from beak to the tip of his tail and approx. 9cms in length. A creamy coloured celluloid with hand painted trimmings. In very good condition, considering now almost 80 years old. There is a roll in pin to the back, understandably showing wear, but working well. Gift boxed by Vintageonline.
