1920's Paste Rhinestone Brooch

$75.00 AUD

The word paste came about as a term to describe the hand cut glass stones placed on a metallic foil base to emulate precious stones. Invented originally in the 18th century by the early 20th century the process had been perfected to a stage where even aristocracy who could afford the luxury of diamonds and precious stones often chose to wear paste.

This is a super large 1920's brooch set in pot metal with a sea of clear paste stones. Overall dimension is 8cms x 5cms. Set in to silver tone pot metal with a roll over safety clip which was by the 1920's and 1930's the pin attachment of choice for much of the costume jewellery.  This beauty is in excellent condition, all stones present, and gift boxed by Vintageonline.
