Lisner: Early 1900's - Late 1985
Although the D. Lisner & Company was founded in New York in the early 1900’s the first jewellery mark was not used until 1935.
It was during the 1950’s that the Lisner Company manufactured a broad range of quality costume jewellery using more expensive aurora borealis stones and rhinestone.
Their price range covered low and medium priced jewellery… similar to Coro jewellery. Their Richelieu line of jewellery was their more expensive range when more expensive materials such as aurora borealis and lucite cabochons and Austrian rhinestones were used.
The first mark used in 1935 was a simple LISNER in block letters, followed by LISNER in script in 1938 and then LISNER in script with a long L in a circle used after 1959. The marks however are not a strict guide to date because the molds and stampings were kept and used at later dates.
In 1978 the company changed its name to Lisner-Richelieu Corporation, and the Lisner company ceased operations in 1985.
Lisner is now highly collectable.
