Elzac 1943 "Bonnet Head "Gold Glazed Ceramic Lucite Brooch

$125.00 AUD

The American Company Elzac was founded in 1941 by Eliot Handler and Zack Zemby.. This particular design of "Bonnet Head" was patented on February 23rd 1943 Pat No 135101. Eliot Handler was married to Ruth Handler the famous inventor of the Barbie Doll. She and her husband went on to establish the Mattel company and the Elzac period came to an end in 1944. These whimsical and special ranges are now very collectable.

This gorgeous example is made from a large fluted clear lucite base with ceramic gold glazed womens tribal face in the centre. Elzac used a sticker attached for verification rather than inscribed signatures, now long gone.  There is light wear to the face and a tiny dent none of which detracts from this lovely brooch now 80 plus years old. True vintage. There is a well working roll over safety clasp to the back.
