1940's Vintage Mexican Silver Aztec Face Necklace

$275.00 AUD

Mexico, and in particularly the silver mining town of Taxco was the centre of the universe for beautiful silver jewellery production during the late 1930's and 1940's. Originally the jewellery was all hand made until later when machinery was used. Production boomed during the WW11 period particularly with the tourists travelling through the region. The carved Obsidian mask was an iconic feature of jewellery and is now highly collectable.  Each of the five mask head sections measure 3cms x 2.5cms.  The hand forged silver chain measures 42cms end to end. There is mild wear showing commensurate with age of almost 80 years. A beautiful iconic piece, in good condition and gift boxed by Vintageonline.
